That might be a bit harsh, but the idea of the list is to share personal
knowledge and experience. If Bill had this experience I believe him and if
Bernd says he never had a bad Cloyes, I believe him too. I do not think
there is any way Bernd was calling Bill a liar, just comparing personal
experiences.
That said,
Bill, have you ever seen one of these fail personally or just something you
heard? Just trying to clarify...

Cloyes. BAD. I've seen several disintegrate for no apparent reason.
Rollmaster is great if you can find it. My next choice is the Comp Cams
3103. The
tensioner will work either.
