I'd be surprised if that port helped you much. That label is a
carryover from earlier years where the 4.7L's filter was up there, but
the rest of the engines had it elsewhere. Given that you're missing 2
cylinders, you'll have about 3 more inches to reach as compared to a
4.7L. I wonder if you can get at the filter from above.

Yep. Plastic bag or a cut-off 2L soda bottle may help.

Well, the 3.7 just came available in '04 on Daks, so it'll be some time.
