I posted about this a few weeks ago. Valvoline claims their MaxLife ATF meets
Chyrsler's ATF+4 requirements.
I just flushed, changed the filter and refilled my 99 Dakota's tranny with
ATF+4. Certainly has no functional impact compared to the +3 that was in the
tranny.
I read on another forum that the +4 is made for Chrysler by an outfit in
Canada. I have no idea why other manufacturers are not making it. I would think
that Chrysler would benifit on cost if there was competition for the business
by a number of manufacturers.
