As someone else suggested, I would dump the fluid out of the torque
converter and fill it back up with new fluid. It will hold at least 3-4
quarts by itself. I would suggest to take a hard look at the front pump
seal on the transmission and the rear main seal on the motor. Now is a
good time to get them too. And, since you are going to drop the pan to
service it, adjust the bands (if they are adjustable), and think about a
deep sump pan or if nothing else install a drain plug in the trans pan
so you can drain it anytime you want.
Go with the new Mopar-specific trans fluid if compatible. I believe
you can upgrade any Mopar trans to the new style fluid. I'm sure Bernd
can give a definite answer to that.
