In the spirit of not crushing a new hat or punching a dimple into the hood, I
bought a chunk of clay and will see how much it compresses with the hood shut
tonight. If there is enough room for a 4" hat plus the retaining nut, I've
found a source for an injection molded high flow hat for $58.00 shipped!
