Had a slight ping when I first bought my '96 dak used years ago. Had
12k on the odo but being it was the first year of the OBDII system on
the daks i believe that has something to do with it. Anyway, the ping
was very minor but moving to a 180 degree thermostat and colder plugs,
as Andy mentioned, solved it for me. I have almost 70 k on it and still
no ping. BTW, I have always been lucky, knock on wood, because I have
never had any problem with the belly pan gasket. Doesn't mean I am not
going to cover my tail when that MPI manifold goes on there later on.
