Foolish Lowering Blocks

I finally got around to putting my 1" ground force lowering blocks in. My
rear suspension is in pieces, but at least I got to use the angle grinder
on the U-bolts. 12 years of corrosion is pretty hard to turn through.

Get everything apart, go to re-assemble, and the diameter of the damn hole
in the block that receives the center pin on the leaf pack is too small to
fit over the nut. I need an opinion. Do I try to find a really big drill
bit that will fit into a 3/8" chuck, or do I grind the nut down little by
little until it fits in the hole. I'm not concerned with being able to
get the nut off, as it's probably corroded solid to the bolt, and if I
need to take the leaf packs apart, I'll just cut the bolt off and buy new
hardware.
