What is the purpose of that Saab switch for the viper fan?

Just got my Viper fan in today. Anyone have a part number or
year/make/model for that Saab fan switch? I'm impatient and don't want to
wait around a couple of weeks while someone gets around to mailing me a
sensor..he's getting them from someplace! Ran into Auto Zone and could only
come up with 1 speed stuff. Napa has 'em (checked the web site) but they're
almost $50, between that and relays it'd be cheaper to get the Flex-A-Lite
variable speed fan control. Advance Auto...well the guy there insisted that
relays had no amperage rating so I didn't go any further with him. Thanks,
