That's a pretty cool idea... What I'm picturing is, pull the
intake manifold and valve covers, replace the valvesprings with
either checking springs or just large non-automotive springs,
and hook an electric motor up to the crankshaft. :-) You'll
be able to see the cam spinning, the valves and lifters working,
etc. Some of the intake manifold bolt holes could be used to
design a bracket which would come up and support a glass table.
Perhaps throw a neon light in the oil pan for an added effect. :-)
You can either pull the spark plugs, or hollow them out and use
hollowed out spark plug wires as well, connecting to hollow
distributor posts to give the air someplace to escape so it
won't build any compression. Another option might be to use
some of that "rope light" stuff for the plug wires. :-)

Though you might want to completely dissasemble and
pressure wash the entire thing first, to get rid of the
oil and coolant. :-) Would be a good opportunity to
clean it up and slap some paint on it too. :-)

What motorhead wouldn't like to have an actual engine
spinning in his living room or garage? :-)
