IAT location

I've been thinking about relocating my IAT sensor also for quite some time
now but am wondering as to the location on the intake tube. On my 97,318 I
have the K&N FIPK, should this sensor be placed in the middle of the tube,
closer to the cone filter, or closer to the air hat section, or is it really
important?
