of course the hint our man Josh is skipping has to do with method:
overinflate the tires (40psi should be plenty to lift the shoulders
from the tarmac) and then drop 1-2 pounds at a time, until even contact
is achieved.
another method is to find an area with splotchy puddles, overinflate,
and then drop pressure until you see the shoulders of the tread making
contact, then drop about two pounds from there.
you should do these tests with the truck loaded as you usually drive
it. I like to run the same pressures all the way around, and rotate my
tires often enough that the slight overinflation in the rear does not
affect wear significantly (every 5k when I'm being good, every 10k at
absolute minimum), and that way I don't need to worry about
underinflation when I've got a load. Airing up is for after offroading
with low pressure, not for a cross country run towing a broken gen I
