Exactly what I've found w/ my trucks. The 318 had more grunt at 2400
RPM, but ran out of breath around 4200. The 4.7 keeps kicking up to
5100 (farthest I've taken it).

| displacement 4 and 6 cyl engines. Also... The Ford 4.0L SOHC engine is
| right at home revving right up to 5500 rpm (has a 7K redline)
Those engines are also very light, which contributes to the high redlines.
