Backstory, since the DML's been wonky: Took my truck into the dealer
Wednesday for a routine diff fluid change, front & rear. They called
about 2 1/2 hours later and said "we have to keep it overnight to get
parts, it's not driveable, the rear diff is bad." I pressed for more
details, but the best I could get was a bad bearing & housing. Huh?

Picked the truck up tonight, and they still couldn't tell me *what* was
replaced, exactly. I leafed through the 1/4" stack of papers they
needed 20 minutes to find, but didn't get copies to bring home (I may go
back for these). I only have the receipt with everything listed. My
original service writer wasn't in today, so people had to "figure out"
what was going on from what was on the papers they had.

Here's the full list of what was done for the rear end ('03 3.92 9.25" LSD):

All under warranty. The truck sounds no different from before, and I
was told at the dealer that I didn't have to go through the usual
rear-end-gear break-in process, but that guy seemed really confused by
most of what I asked him.

I called Mike on my way home to see what he could make of the
descriptions. The 5XXXXXXAA p/ns came up empty on his web searches, the
3XXXXXX p/ns he found.

Questions:
* Is that rear axle fluid LSD-compatible? I'm guessing yes, just want
to check.
* What exactly is 5161549AA? On the papers I only got to see, I saw it
having a price of something like $500 (the whole job ran close to $900
from what I could tell).
* Any clues as to what would have required this much be replaced?
* Bernd (or anyone else w/ dealer access), if I send you my VIN and the
R/O number from the writeup, can you check the Dodge supercomputer and
get a bead on what *really* happened?

Confused right now...I really should try to get the rest of those papers
I guess.
