I purchased a Flowmaster cat back system for my 99 3.9l v6. This system came
with a 2.5" in 3" out 50 series SUV muffler which was the same lenght as the
stock muffler (slipped right onto the pipe from the cat with no adapters
required). The inlet side of the stock system was clamped together but the
tailpipe was welded to the muffler (made getting the old system off easy). The
Flowmaster system came with the clamps & hangers needed and wound up being less
than an hours work to install. Both sides of the muffler were clamped. There is
no need to weld the system together if everything fits correctly the clamps
work just as well.
