Well I finally figured out what problem I was having with her engine -
After I replaced the plugs, wires, cleaned the cap and rotor, changed
the pick up coil, MAP sensor, TPS sensor - it was still hesitating and
not wanting to run right - acting as if it wasnt getting fuel. Well -
that was right halfway. Only one of the two injectors were operating.
Swapped out the drivers side injector and voila. However....
Shes burning oil pretty bad from what I can tell. I'm going to give it
a day or so and see if this is just a problem that was caused by having
it sit so long - or if the rings are infact toasted. I need to change
the thermostat, as the truck barely gets warmed up - must be sticking.
After I can get it warmed up to operating temp, I'll do a compression
test and see exactly what I am up against. I think I'm back to square
one again. (sigh) I may just drive her regardless - and let the thing
burn oil. Its much safer to drive than the Ranger... and the Ram is
still drydocked. This brings up a big point - I need to pull the plugs
in the ram - shoot some oil in there and crank it over a few times -
also need to fill up the gas tank and throw in some sea foam (makes note
to self).
Felt DAMNED GOOD to drive a Dakota again!!!
