Bernd, would you be willing to ship one of those filters to me? On your
advice that Mopar is in fact superior to my K&N/ Mobil1 filters I went
to my local dodge dealer, and told them I wanted 6 oil filters for my 99
5.2. They came back with 4 boxed filters in 2 different kind of boxes -
big and small, and 2 loose, one shrinkwrapped, one open. I lined all 6
filters up on the counter in front of the service manager and asked why
they were all different. I got a muttered response about different
sources and manufacturers. None of the ones they presented to me
appeared to be of the quality you described. I left.
Disclaimer: I know Bernd can get sensitive about things, so let me be
very clear, I do not believe *my* dodge dealer worth a damn. I am quite
sure that these new and improved mopar filters exist, and Bernd has
worked with them. Out here in flatland illinois with the crappy dealers
we are forced to deal with, it's a different story.
