: check the sticker in your glovebox or driver's door jamb, one of those two should tell you if you've got an 8.25" or a 9.25" (I think). I'd expect the smaller of the two unless you've got the heavy payload package.
The GenII wasn't available with the 9.25" (unfortunately). The 9.25"
made its first appearance in the GenIII, I believe it was automatically
included when you ordered a V8 with the 5 speed around the 1997-1998
time period. The only other rear (that I know of) which was ever offered
in the Dakota is the 7.25" which can be found in some of the (early) 4s
and 6s. Assuming it is stock of course, Bill has the 8.25" in his GenII
Dak.
