That's one of the main reasons I had the dealer do my first oil change.

Something similar happened to my cousin, but it was a transmisison
shop and his truck somehow just "fell" halfway off the lift. They
paid the truck off for him & covered the repairs (I think)...then he
turned around and got a Dak.
Your roommate should have pushed for a whole ner car, not just the repairs.
