All of the rubber fill plugs I have ever come across have been
fairly tight. I'm not sure what could have caused that (excessive
heat, or very dry conditions perhaps?) but even on my 13 year old
truck, the plug is still tight and in great condition, so I don't
think its necessarily an age related thing. I don't expect they
would cost too much, might be worthwhile to just pick up another one
and pop in in there.
