Hi Bob,
I would recommend running a wire (of an appropriate gauge) directly
from the battery to a relay, then from the relay to the inverter. Put an
in-line fuse in this line also, unless your inverter already has one
built in. The fuse amperage will depend on the wire gauge you use and
how much current you want your inverter to be able to draw. As the
trigger for the relay, I'm sure you will be able to find a wire in the
PDC area which is a switched (ignition) power source. You could either
check the FSM for a likely candidate and find it via the wire color, or
just grab the multimeter and start probing around for a contact that
is approx. +12v when the key is on, but 0v when the key is off.
