It won't apply less load, but will keep the charging voltage more consistent
(and slightly higher) at idle.

Factory sizes are (measured at the outer rim): 61mm (Small one) and 70mm
(large one). All of the Hemi's and most of the 4.7L's have the smaller one
and the larger came on alternators from 1992-1996 and on most of the
standard output alternators from 1997-2004 (3.9/5.2/5.9). You can run down
to a salvage yard and grab the stock 7-rib 61mm for about $5.00.

Just as a comparison, the ASP underdrive pulley is 86mm. It runs really
slow at idle and will drain the battery if you have the A/C on and/or with
headlights and wipers (raining).

I can't speak from experience (yet), cause I haven't added this to my
05 Dak yet, but from my research it does seem to help. I've been looking at
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/dodgedasp.htm , but I know that SoCalDakota also
sells them -
