I guess I got a little wordy and sort of lost track of the point I was
trying to make. I think the Beetle is a total success when it comes to a
modern reworking of the name and the car. I didn't specifically say
that any of the above mentioned cars sucked or were great - I was trying
to illustrate more along the lines of "these cars had precidessors to
which the public compares the new to the old" Where Gabriel and Ed were
  saying the Prowler, Viper, PT Crusier started the retro craze - may
not be correct or incorrect... I was thinking along the lines of new
cars with old names - and the issues that surround that. Thats what I
call the "retro craze".. not so much retro style in general - but the
slapping of old names on modern cars. If they are done well or not
wasn't my point.
