Question on the two vacuum nipples....

Thanks for all the help guys, just trying to get "acquinted" with my 3.9 V-6.
I have noticed 2 vacuum nipples on the left (passenger) side of the intake, 1
has a hose attached and goes to the PCV (maybe) the other has nothing on it.
When I finished my plug job I was just looking over the engine and heard the
hissing. Do I need to plug this or is it supposed to be unplugged for a
reason?
