'05 Dak towing capacity (what's old is new again)

   I just posted in another thread that I came across my '96
Dakota brochure as I was cleaning up for the DML BBQ, and that
reminded me of something I meant to comment on:

   I don't know if anybody has seen the '05 Dakota
ads which show the Dak pulling a 7,000lb barbell or not. Kind've
a cool ad, but they make a big deal out of the fact that the Dak
can now tow 7,000lbs, but right on the cover of my '96 brochure,
it says that the towing capacity is up to 7,100lbs (with a 2600lb
payload). Anyway, I just thought that was kind've interesting.
The ads make it seem like some new, big deal, but Daks were set
up for towing *more* than 7,000lbs 10 years ago... Who knows,
maybe they are overcompensating for the whole R/T towing debacle. ;-)
