Can't help you on which ones is best. I have a relatively cheap
Campbell-Haufield. I also have an electric Ryobi random orbital sander and a 4"
electric angle grinder. For a neophite like myself I find that I can do a much
better job and have more control with the random orbital sander. I also like
the hook and loop pads that fit the sander over the sticky back pads on the DA.
I only use the DA now to remove paint to bare metal. The grinder gets used on
metal work and welds. I have a a long board with 30 grit paper for working
bondo. Prep sanding for intial priming, block sanding of primer I use the
orbital sander.
