My preference is that the Neons are great little cars; both of my step
sisters have them, my dad's ex-wife has one; and Dad's now got a new SRT-4.
I don't recall mileage figures for them, but they do much better than my
2.5L Dak did. Biggest factor for mileage is driving habits, since they can
run when asked.. they'll also be thirsty at times. IF you behave with it..
I wouldn't be surprised to see better than 35mpg( I've done that on my '86
Dodge Turbo).
I vote to go for the pair of Neons; even if you ever do lose a head gasket
on one of them.. It'd be an easy & inexpensive fix to do yourself. People
are scared off because they think of how much the stealership charges to fix
things.
