I have no idea what the Gold Wing motor looks like so I don't know
if this would work; this thought is definitely worth what you paid for it
(less, probably) but what if you were to transverse mount the motor and
install a sprocket on the trans output where the shaft would normally
attach?
You mentioned ATV parts in another post, I don't know if an ATV
engine will have enough power for whatever your particular design is,
but many (most?) ATVs nowadays have a reverse gear so if you are
able to cannibalize the engine and trans from an ATV that might
solve your problem. The tricky part would probably be finding an
ATV with enough power; I think 500cc or so is about the average,
which on our Honda ATV is good for just over 40mph on a straight,
level surface. Might not be enough fun in a bigger buggy though -
depends on the intended use I suppose! :-)
As far as my own buggy progress goes, there hasn't been any.
I spent all my money on tools so I have nothing left over for
the buggy. ;-) But when I do get around to building a buggy,
at least I will have to tools to do it. :-) Plus, I still have
absolutely no idea what I want to build. I can't decide between
a crawler or something I can take over some sweet jumps. A part
of me wants to build the latter, which would also allow me to
throw some street tires on it and use it for bracket racing fun,
but another part of my brain has some cool design ideas that
would be neat to experiment with, but which would result in a
slow, "rock crawler" type buggy. Decisions, decisions...
(Yeah, I know - do both, right? See "spent all my money on tools",
above.) ;-)
