Man, I just took the 98 with the new stock thermostat on a two-day 1,200
mile road test and it kept me plenty toasty, along with my totally cold
natured wifey. We drove from south central KY where we now live to Akron
Ohio and back for a friends wedding with a side stop in Troy, OH to see
wifey's family. We left Friday morning with it at 22 degrees and blowing
cold thru snow, driving rain, sleet, and absolute pouring rain on the way
back. We slid east of Cincinnati with the interstate icing over at 25
degrees for 60 miles, and thank you to my Toyo Proxes...kept us safe. One
weird thing, as we left the reception in Akron, I reached for the column
shift to drop it into drive and the darn shifter knob came off in my hand,
the only thing holding it on was the wire to the overdrive button....a
couple of yucks about it and I jammed it back onto the shaft, gotta use some
gorilla snot on it tomorrow. Anyway good to be back but leaving for my home
in Hawaii on Friday so I will suspend for about 10 days while I go to
Waikiki...

My 98 doesn't have much heat too, and it's not fun since my 05 is in the
body shop agian. :( Checked the usual vaccum tube culprit, t-stat is
ok, I'm just forcing myself to live with it. The only thing that helps
a little is my remote start.... giving it a good 20 minute warm-up puts
some heat in the cab, enough to get to where im going. Because as I go
down the road, it cools down.

..which leads to another question, Last few times I've had the blower
on high, i've had leaves comming out of the vents. Is there a way to
put a screen over the air inlet?? And, where is the air inlet on the
gen3's anyway???
