Is it a black smoke or white? If its white, its probably a leaking
head gasket or cracked head leaking antifreeze into the cylinder. If
this is the case, the exhaust may also have a sweet smell to it, kinda
like maple syrup.
If its a dark smoke and you're sure its not burning any oil,
it may just be running rich; a faulty O2 sensor may be the culprit,
an exhaust leak, or perhaps when you cleaned the throttle body you
may have damaged the MAP sensor or its connection to the TB? Could
be a leaky injector also; if its a failure like that at a particular
cylinder, pulling the plugs like you plan to do should help you to
narrow it down.
