My '02 Jetta TDI is paying for its insurance and loan payment in fuel
savings alone. With my 75+ miles/day and frequent road trips I didn't
have to get a cheap vehicle to have it pay for itself.

my break even is at about 1750 miles/month, for what it's worth.
That's actually with paying my entire insurance bill on all three
vehicles (which is getting literally cut in half next week by switching to
Geico) as well as the load payment. I'll have had the car for 3 months
sometime next week, and I've put on very nearly 10,000 miles, so I'm money
waaaaay ahead. Though some of those miles are being driven only because
it's so much cheaper to drive them now.
