Instead of taking 80, why not get off the 90 just before Cleveland
and head southwest on 71 to Columbus? You can pick up 70 there, and
just stay right on it through Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Kansas City.
Then follow Jim's directions to take 24 from Limon into Colorado Springs.
According to my map, going this route is actually 18 miles shorter
than taking 80/76 into Denver. This route would also allow you to
bypass all of the traffic & construction near Chicago, and another
plus is that it appears that you also avoid all of the toll roads!
The only tolls you'd have (besides the Peace Bridge on the way back
home) would be that little stretch of 90/190 between Canada and the
NY/PA border. I'll save the route on my computer here in case you'd
like to take a gander at it when you come down.
