Re: ODBII - Codes P0340 P0344 -- Camshaft Position Sensor

  Sorry,

I should have mentioned that this is the 4.7 motor.

I've inspected the wiring and connector and they all seem fine. The
vehicle does start and run but it takes 10-15 seconds of continuous
cranking before the motor will 'catch' and fire. Once it starts we don't
seem to have any issues with running, except for the MIL light on the
dash.

The cruise control appears to be related, as it can't be set at all with
the buttons on the wheel and she said that she had it on cruise
when the light came on and her speed dropped. I will reset the codes and
see if I can get the buttons to work before it triggers again.

I found a Haynes manual, But I need a real FSM for my 2002 Dakota and her
2003 Durango, but given that she wants to keep both of these vehicles until
they literaly fall apart (which probably means engine/trans replacements and
such in my future) I had better get a proper book.

The sensor is only $40 and I can have one in 2 days so I'll be pulling
and testing the voltage across the sensor tonight and see if I have to
order one.
