It's a little deceiving because the radar loop shows reflective
moisture in the atmosphere. It's even sensitive enough that it picks
up dense clouds. But in reality, anything less than +20 - +24 dBZ
probably isn't hitting the ground. The personal weather station I've
been monitoring in Woodland Park, which is about 10 miles NW of Lone
Duck, only recorded 1.18" of rain for the month of June and their
online cameras @ http://www.woodlandparkcam.com always look mostly
clear. I don't think rain will be a big factor though I understand the
weather pattern for that area is clear morning and clouding up some
mid afternoon. I too will back a couple of rain coats but I don't
believe they're really necessary.
