Agreed. Really, for any of the uses we'd be putting our vehicles
to, there isn't going to be an appreciable difference between the two
(as Rascal mentioned in a previous response). I've been using Mobil 1
for years, and if its cheaper, I don't see any reason to switch.

Royal Pruple definitely does seem to have a more agressive
marketing department; if I see one more magazine article where
they replace all the synthetic fluids with Royal Purple and dyno
the vehicle before/after to tout the (usually statistically
insignificant) power increase due to reduced friction, I think I'm
gonna lose it. :-) The first time was somewhat interesting, but
now that every magazine out there has done it at least 300 times, I
think we can put this one to bed. I think how this happened was Royal
Purple got ahold of a Primedia rolodex and called every number in it.
I believe the standard conversation goes something like this:

Royal Purple: "Hey, we've got a great idea for a story, we'll
send you a bunch of stuff and you can dyno a car
before/after to document the friction losses!"

Magazine: "Duh, OK, we like free stuff, and since we don't
like coming up with new ideas on our own, we were
just going to use that space for another '69 Camaro
                 photo spread anyway."

The hype obviously works though, since people have been telling
David to switch, and we are having this conversation. :-)
