Yeah, my 98 is all original but the U joints and when I replaced those, it
was just because someone gave me a free set that had the zerks. I do have
something that comes and goes, just have been too lazy to look at the rear
brakes so I think that is what my problem is. Mine is a 98 2wd also Ray.
No shock probs here....and I don't even have the cv joints that I thought I
had....sheesshhh..hah, (making fun of my dumb self)...
I have been religious about changing out the tranny fluid, full flush every
30k miles and the rear end dope every 60k, but still the same rear gears,
tranny, etc...at 160k miles. My paint is just nicked up but still pretty
good, no clear coat problems as far as I can tell anyway. Mine is black.

Leaving tomorrow for the Atlanta Nascar race so have a great weekend DMLers.

Must be a 4X4 thing. I have nearly 150K miles on my 98
and (knockwood) most all of it is original.

I still even have the factory U-joints, ring, pinion,
clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing in there.
I've regularly (mostly) changed the oil and filter,
brakes when they needed it, tires and battery once,
plugs and other various tune up details but that's
all. So far the only thing that's giving me grief is
the weird paint job. It appears the bed and the cab
above the door line may have been re-painted at the
factory or maybe it was the other way around. The
doors, front fenders and hood all appear to have the
clear coat coming off.
