damn dude that REALLY SUCKS!
Glad you are OK! That kind of impact can really mess up the human body.
My left hand is still tender (middle finger got jammed in the
steering wheel of the Neon when I Poled it this summer) - I didn't get
x-rays - and I was sorry I didn't. Its not a bad idea to get checked out
by a Doc!
As for the Dak... that had to ba a hard hit to push the bed into the
cab. I havn't seen much of that. I've seen it hapen reverse... front
end hits can easily shift the cab on its rubber mounts, but the beds are
hard bolted. Wouldnt]'t be surprised if you discovered bent/sheered bed
bolts - or damaged bed mounting points.
And I've NEVER seen the HVAC vents blow out in a wreck before. If you
can't get satisfaction out of your insurance agent... see if you can
strike a deal. Friend of mine got whacked in a Celica, got paid a claim
(turned out to be more than he actually paid for the car) and they let
him keep the car too. He actually made money by having been rear ended.
Last I knew he was still driving it as a beater - anyway - point is -
maybe you can get a deal. They give you whatever they appriase the
claim for... you keep the truck, and pop a few bucks of your own in to
help with repairs. I'm sure The List can help you find parts
(bumper/tailgate/etc) Someone prolly has a Gen III bumper laying around
from a rollpan conversion.
Most of my spare parts stockpile consists of Gen I and Gen II parts -
but if I can help ya with anything (parts locating, etc) let me know and
I'll see what I can do :-)
