It definitely sounds like it's coming from under the hood. Power
steering fluid level is good. Front brakes were replaced at the
beginning of summer and the bearings were checked at that time. Rear
brakes are good and U joints are tight and in good shape. I've been
all over the under side of the truck several times looking for
something that may be rubbing, shows signs of making contact, etc.

I haven't been able to reproduce the noise. Sometimes it will do it
every day -- but not every time I'm going over 30mph -- and sometimes
it won't do it for a couple of weeks. It might be making noise until
I stop at a light but not start up again when moving again.

It's the "come and go" that is making it hard to identify.
