Got to love the dealer. (Is it any wonder some people refer to
them as "stealerships"?) ;-)

You can easily buy an entire, new custom driveshaft for $100-150
less than what the dealer wants for a stock piece. For example, there
is a place out near me called Denny's Driveshafts
(www.dennysdriveshaft.com) which will sell you a heavy duty driveshaft
for something like $250-400 (depends on application, etc.). They
guarantee them for life. I have not had any personal dealings with
this outfit, but have seen their name mentioned in magazine articles
and such; their shafts are in some high HP vehicles. I don't know how
this particular outfit ranks as far as price goes, there may be a
custom driveline shop near you that could do the same thing, but I
know if it were me, I'd definitely go the Denny's Driveshaft route as
opposed to giving the money to the dealership to replace it with the
same thing that already busted once.
