There's the PCM side of the harness and the sensor side of the harness. Is
the break on the sensor leads that run to the connector or after the
connector (going into the main harness)?

Hey, Bernd...

<> If you can...and if you have enough room, you can cut/solder/heat shrink
the
 sensor wires. <>

I'll take a peek at it later to see if that's feasible...

<>However, if this is on the sensor side of the connector, just
replace the sensor - it comes with a new harness anyway.<>

Not sure what you mean there... The wiring in question is on the harness
side - above the (molex?) connector, right at the entry point
on top of the block . Looks like the sensor is attached to the bakelite
plate under the distributor cap. The harness looks like it's wrapped, so I
can't tell which way it goes, but, again, I'll take a peek.
