The NGC is pretty much the current standard now. PCM and TCM are both
integrated (with the exception of the NAG transmission vehicles).
Unfortunately, it's also the "smartest" and most locked down PCM out there.
It'll insert its own calculated values if a sensor either fails or is
altered too much outside of the expected ranges (as in resistors on IAT's or
modified crank/cam signals), it can "tell on you" with some very elaborate
code data (environmental data) - basically tells us what you were doing when
the code appeared, and the next generation of NGC's will also include the
GPEC fail-safe data logging as well (codes and data stay in the PCM until
cleared via the StarScan - battery disconnect won't work anymore).

Its about time. :-) I always thought it was kind've strange for
Chrysler to use all sorts of different computers instead of one
(hardware) PCM for all vehicles, with simply varied software changes for
each vehicle. I'm guessing that situation may have developed due to the
incorporation of Jeep and each "division" sort've doing their own thing...
Definitely makes more sense from all sorts of perspectives to use one
computer across the board.
