   Heheh! Thanks, hope I didn't bludgeon you *too* badly. :-) As far
as the gospel thing goes, we're only human, and I know I make stupid
mistakes all the time, so I dunno if I'd go that far. :-) Its a good
thing to question or at least keep digging until the answer is
obvious.

   Yep, you should be able to remove it from the old hose and just
install it the same way in the new one. If you plan to backflush the
system at some point in the future, you can re-install the Prestone
tee the same way, or if not, just leave that out. (One less thing to
potentially leak, so there's no need to re-install it if its not
something you're going to use. If you aren't sure, those Prestone
tees are super easy to install so you can always do it at some point
in the future.)
