You can put me on that list as well - 100%. DRL's are definitely not as
bright (not supposed to be anyway) and don't "glare" or cause issues as
claimed. If they do cause a problem, heck...ever had highbeams in your face
on a rainy night from some person driving too fast on the water laden
highway? How about being backed into by a vehicle with a backup alert
system - yes...they were driving faster than the system was designed for
(reaction time).

That pretty much sums it up Jon. Aren't those the very people DRLs were
designed for? Unfortunately, it appears many of these people don't
understand that DRLs are not the same as "headlights" and their taillights
will not be on unless they actually take some action.
I would put DRLs in the same category as 5 mph bumpers. While the presence
of said bumpers may be comforting to the minority who can't seem to avoid
bumping into things at low speeds, the unintended consequences are higher
vehicle weight, higher vehicle cost, higher repair costs if, God forbid, one
hits something at above 5 mph, and higher insurance premiums to pay for it
all.
It seems most everything these days is being dumbed down to the lowest
common denominator so that responsibility is shifted to the manufacturer (or
someone...anyone) rather than the consumer. Unfortunately we all have to
pay for it, one way or another. I could go on.
In a nutshell Jon, I agree with your position 100%!
