Evac, seals changed, drier (or orifice tube) replaced, and placed under a
vacuum for 30-45
minutes to clean everything out. Then, it's charged to factory spec with
new oil as well.
This is the normal/approved method for conversions to R134a.

evacuate the R12?
replace oil in compressor?
replace the dryer? etc. etc.. etc....
I plan to go to shop for this but I want to be knowledgable in what work is
performed for
the conversion to R134a
