There is a gain control [itty bitty black knob near the inputs] knob.
Try adjusting that. Take a 9v battery and short one of the line inputs,
you should get a "tick". Pull the speakers and check them individually
with the 9v. Sony makes a low profile amp that fits perfectly in that
space...
