If I ever have a catastrophic master cylinder failure with loss of all
hydraulic brakes, I'll remember that the "parking brake" should never be
used as a failsafe to bring my vehicle to a stop - because the "parking
brake" cable *does not* apply the rear brakes by a purely mechanical
method to actuate the rear brakes even if the hydraulic system fails.
Silly me :) I'll just rear end the Miata in front of me and get sued
for killing its occupants :-) Much cheaper than toasting my "parking
brakes".
