I should look into that, to see if it is legal/possible for me.
These yearly safety inspections are killing me! Its not so much the
cost ($10-20 per year), its the hassle of scheduling the appointment
and taking the time to do it. ALL of my vehicles except one have
expired inspections for this reason. My '96 Dak has gone uninspected
long enough that NY has informed me that I cannot renew the
registration until I get it inspected. (Speaking of which, the
registration fees aren't all that fun either, at around $60-120 every
2 years, per vehicle.)
If I could register a vehicle out of state, I could conceivably
even avoid the local sales tax hit that comes with registering a new
vehicle in this socialist paradise.
I'm sure this is a loophole NY has closed a long time ago, but
your post has me wondering, I should do some checking on that, just in
case.
