The only reason you can get away with that wide of a wire is because of the
height of your sidewalls. A stock R/T would be pushing it to squeeze some
31's into the fenderwells on the front, but they'd fit fine on the rear.
With the shorter sidewall, any decent tire shop won't mount anything wider
than a 285 on a 9" rim.

YOu R/T guys are funny with your itty bitty narrow little tires. I have
2 sets of tires for my truck, 325/60r15 BFG Muds and 265/70r17 Street
tires. I also have a pair of 285/70r17 BFG AT's in the shed, but I have
to find 2 more matching before I can run those...

All kidding aside, I always have wondered how much difference there is
between the 2wd and 4wd trucks. Can the 2wd trucks fit the 31x10.50's
if they wanted to? Is the R/T [in stock form] any different?
