Sorta O/T: Trying to buy a new truck rant

With the new addition to my family a few weeks ago I have come to the
determination that my 92 Dak CC just isn't a really newborn/infant friendly
vehicle. We have my wife's PT Cruiser to handle most of the family hauling
duties, but I still use my truck a lot for hauling my trailer and doing
stuff that PT can't do. But the back seat really isn't big enough to handle
the car seat, so I've started looking at newer trucks and I've pretty much
got my heart set on a 2002+ Ram Quad cab. However, I am having difficulty
finding exactly what I want. I'm not fussy on colour, and high mileage
doesn't scare me (I'm a heavy truck mechanic by trade I'm not afraid to get
my hands dirty), and as long as it's not a V6, I couldn't care less if it's
a 4.7L, 5.7L gasser or a 5.9L Cummins. However, I absolutely, positively do
NOT want a 4X4, and over 95% of the 2002+ Rams that are for sale around
here are 4X4! I don't know if this is a regional thing or not, I live in
Southern Ontario, Canada, and I've managed just fine in the winters here
with 2wd trucks, I don't want or need the additional weight, complexity and
operational costs involved with owning a 4x4.

I've griped about this to friends and co-workers since I've been looking on
and off for about 4 months, and everyone looks at me strange when I tell
them I refuse to buy a 4x4, even though that seems to be all I can find. I
figure you guys would understand. ;)

Is anyone else noticing the same thing? Did Chrysler just produce more 4x4
trucks than 2wd? Is it a regional thing? Am I just crazy?

James
