So, any thoughts?

That is what my thoughts are leading me to... only hesitation I have is
that its a 4 banger.. and while its a big 4 banger (2.7L) its still got
a low tow rating. While I don't need to pull a 5th wheel... I find that
my Ram with its big ass 360 is horrible for towing anything. I'm left
wondering if a taco that weighs only about 1100 lbs less, with far less
motor... will totally suck when loaded down. When I haul stuff I tend
to haul a lot.

What I really want is a new Ram 2500 with a diesel. I refuse to put my
ass in the drivers seat of anything that has a bloody automatic
transmission ever again. The main reason I find the Taco appealing.
That truck in the link is a 5 speed. Granted they offer then with V6s
and 6 speed sticks...

I wouldn't even be looking at tacos if the Dakota was worth anything...
over priced, ugly ass trucks that they are now. No stick shifts, no
long bed options, electronic transfer case... pathetic front suspension.

Only way to get a stick in a Dodge anymore is a 2500 or a 3500 with a
diesel. The 6 speed stick and diesel combo is an additional $6000+
option - which churns my stomach lining, as well as my wallet lining. I
can't afford what they want for a 3/4 ton.

I'm at the point where I've started exceeding the capabilities of an
almost 10 year old 1/2 ton short box regular cab truck. I've been doing
lots of hauling as of late... hauling ass, hauling trailers, hauling
gear... I was on vacation this past week and went up north to work on my
cabin... had the bed packed with gear, 5x10 utility trailer with a
riding mower on the back... truck was underpowered and the automatic
transmission sucks ass. Its a nice toy, but I made a mistake buying a
1/2 ton. The 360s were never a real power house and never good on fuel.

I don't know what to do either Barry.
