I had this happen on the 98. My uncle came to help, and we drilled
out the hole a bit, put a bolt with a nylon nut on the end. That was
3 years, several thousand miles ago, and she's held tight ever since.

I wouldn't drive it without a bolt... just a risk I wouldn't take,
